Machinery is not merely some arbitrary feature of the environment. Machinery is a central component of human culture. Just as we would not be human without language, we would not be human without machinery. Yet, many of us are alienated from machinery. This is not surprising considering the current corporate lock on machinery with its attendant subsumption to greed, exploitation, and warfare. Robotic sculptures are poetic machines which help us imagine alternate scenarios of our lives with machinery. I seek to expose the joyful, playful, erotic potential of machinery. There are other domains for machines to occupy beyond mere brawny utility.
